Meet Gerald Lanier‍, Security Officer at Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center.

The Story

Gerald Lanier joined Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center in 2012 as a Bellman. With a heart for Guest service and interest in other areas of hotel operations, Gerald moved to the front desk and then into a security role. Even in his current position, Gerald is there when someone is needed to help with a shuttle run or deliver luggage.

"Gerald offers a smile to those who need one while exuding heartfelt empathy for everyone he encounters," says Human Resources Director, Alicia Duersel‍.

Recently, Gerald went above and beyond his duties to deliver exceptional hospitality to one of the hotel Guests. On his night off, Gerald received a call from the night audit informing him that a lock on a Guestroom was malfunctioning and the Guest could not get into his room. It was a sensitive situation because the Guest was diabetic and needed the insulin which was in his room. Although it was after midnight, Gerald drove over 30 minutes to come in and open the Guestroom.

"Gerald showed the true meaning of caring about our Guests," said Betty Hintemeyer‍, Director of Rooms at Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center. "We are so proud to have him on our team."

A hard worker and a talented artist, Gerald extends his commitment to hospitality beyond the hotel, volunteering with several Community-based organizations.

Thank you, Gerald for bringing our Purpose to life in your acts of hospitality.
